In His Presence
I'm reminded again about the awesome presence of God. A close and respected sister of Christ i have in Leeds,julee gave a very encouraging word from the bible, i cant really remember exactly the exact detail of the sharing but it has encourage me lots and i would like to share it with you. i goes something like this(doing my best to put into words what i have remembered):
Exodus 33:1-3Then the LORD said to Moses, "Leave this place, you and the people you brought up out of Egypt, and go up to the land I promised on oath to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, saying, 'I will give it to your descendants.' I will send an angel before you and drive out the Canaanites, Amorites, Hittites, Perizzites, Hivites and Jebusites. Go up to the land flowing with milk and honey. But I will not go with you, because you are a stiff-necked people and I might destroy you on the way."
God... promised Moses... that eventhough He was not going to go with Moses and the Israelites... He was going to let ALL of His promises come to pass... the Israelites WILL possess the promise land, they will finally have the 'land flowing with milk and honey' that was promised by God... because an ANGEL of the Lord was gonna be with them! One condition... God was not there.
Friends if we were to put this into modern day context. where God promises... that we will have GREAT ministry success... all the promises in the BIble being made to life. Every single non believer saved, every broken hearted healed, every hurting made whole, every person under bondage set free, people multiplying and growing spiritually, more and more being added to God daily... but under one condition... God will not be present. His angel will be there, to make sure all of God's promises come to pass, but He Himself will not be there.
Wow... I have to confess... that hearing the front bit (without hearing the condition to this) sounds so great!! Who wouldn't want to have a ministry where when you speak and preach the gospel, people are saved? Who wouldn't want to be able to minister to people to be set free from physical, emotional, spiritual bondage?However... what is more important... is NOT all these that many erroneously term as "success"! God's Presence... to Moses... it didn't matter about all these promises... he was willing to die in the desert, if God's presence was there. The difference between Moses and the rest... the difference between the nation of Israel and the other nations around them... was GOD. All of God's promises are not worth ANYTHING if God is not there!!!
Let us all learn to pursue God's presence... God's glory... To draw near... not to His promises... but to Himself... to know Him... that is what we live for!! Let us be hungry for God's presence... that He gets ALL the glory in our lives!
Well thats pretty much of what i have been encouraged. Friends lets not take the presence of God for granted. Whats the use of having all broken-ness heal, all possession gain, all knowledge obtain, endless blessings,etc ... when the presence of God is not present in any of it!
i would like to repeat again : All of God's promises are not worth ANYTHING if God is not there!!!
O Lord i ask that your presence will ever be present in my life. i would rather die at the place where your presence is than to be at an abudant promises fullfilled life place without you there.i will not move on till your presence moves with me.
