7th July 2006. Scarsborough Summer Day Trip
The day is sunny. We woke up early at 8am to catch the train to Scarsborough. Just left the five of us from Malaysia, Aimee, Kerting, siou hui ,etc all have flew back to Malaysia already. Its exactly i week before i fly back to beautiful Malaysia. Yes! I spent my final holiday destination in England at Scarsborough. Took so many pictures. One of the best holidays in my life. Great Friends and a great Beachtown.
Well just to provide some info about Scarsborough. It is a beach town about approx 3-4hours train ride from Leeds. I got to know about this place cause LCCC had their Christmas retreat here before...i drooled looking at the pictures taken by Val and William & Chrissie spend most of their Summer here for their course and holidays. So i decided to check out this place for myself. Being a beach bumb and im all ready fot this fun holiday.
Altogether there are five of us: Me, Roy, Valerie, Siawwan and May Woei. This friends are my best friends in leeds.So much memories with them throughout the year in Leeds. Oh Well, i shall leave the pictures to tell you the story of hows my one day holiday in Scarsborough went.
This is picture of the four of us before we get into the Scarsborough wet market that will lead us to a town and lastly the beach.Its a very bright sunny day.
90% of the whole town is like this. Steps declining downwards towards the beach. The house are construted in that way too =)
Dunno what is siawwan doing that. But she sure is having a good time.
Downtown in scarsborough. The streets is really happening sorta reminds of gurney drive in Penang just that the streets are way cleaner and honestly i cant spot a single asian throughout the trip here. We were like the only asians around this beach front.
Willy's Fish and Chips stall. Its famous. I guess every town has its own famous fish and chips stall. Leeds have their own. and now we are at Scarsborough to have a taste of their fish and chips.
Here's Roy posing with the fish and chips. Fish and chips are served like this everywhere. FAT FAT Chips. Home made i say. But its damn Ex. This portion which Roy is eating cost us 5quids. and we have to pay extra for any tartar sauce.
While walking down the beachfront. We found this. Dunno how true is it. Worlds largestchocolate fountain. Hai meh. I always expected the worlds largest to be bigger. =). But still, we can smeel the chocolate from a distance and gthe hat of the chocolate can be felt when u get closer to the window.
There's tons of shops that sell seafood like this. one thing i notice about the english is that they eat their seafood without any shells on them. Here May Woei bought a small box of crap meat. The crap filamen sticks. But real crab meat. With tartar sauce in it. Its yummylicious!
Just another random picture down the beach front. Look how hangat it is. And it looks so safe. My ideal picture of how Gurney Drive Penang should be like.
Another random picture. See the hills behind. That's Scarsborough Castle.Really nive view from the top there. I could imagine how kings and princes live by the sea and their castle all the way up a hill overlooking the sea.
Why are you laughing Roy? And Siawwan wats with that look? What did you see? The next picture is one of the bestest things that has happen to me.
Ta-dah. Scarsborough Jumbo Cone Ice Cream. Altogether they have 7scopes in it. Huge Scopes. And the ice cream is thick yummy.Cost me a friggin 4quid. But its still worth it =)
haha. See the size of it compare with my mouth. i can never eat it with one mouth full.
Or even three mouth fulls.
The cone is as long as my arm man. Its CRAZY!!!!. and its all ice cream inside. Not like they just put ice cream on top only. The ice cream is all the way down the cone. Coolest Ice Cream i ever have in my life. So many people were staring at us. I remember at the beach there was this kid crying crying and the dad was trying to cheer the kid up and he pointed my ice cream. and the kid's face went : WTFish! lolx.
Walked down the beach. Lotsa families and oldies on this side of the beach.
Me still playing around with the ice cream. Treating like its the olympic torch. The lips is filled with ice cream all over.

The water is damn cold. VERY cold. England beaches have freezing cold beach water. And its summer now. I wonder how's winter beach water like.
We are all smilling throughout the trip. Was a lot of fun. Splashing water at one another. talkin nonsense laughing here and there.

haha. You know whats in the round about? Its a public changing room. Yeaps for the beach users. Try having this in malaysia and we see people littering there and beggers all around.

We were on a bridge walking and siawwan shout: LOOK!!! Captain Jack Sparrow is back! Thats the pirate ship boat we sat later in the day.
Here we are at the dock of Scarsborough before ridng on the pirate ship behind us.
Its a small ship. Feel so dangerous when it went into the sea. The waves were hitting hard and the boat was like rocking up and down.

After sitting on the pirate ship. Which cost us 3pounds per ride. we head off to walk different places in Scarborough beachfront.
The pirate ship ride was fun. But can never compare to this!!! a high speed open air-ed jet boat. Man. And we only have one handle to hold onto. Love this ride so much many. When we beat thru the waves. Cost me 5pounds.how i remembered?? haha cos Roy was broke then and being kiam siap, not wasting money away like that. haha.
I wish somebody could take pictures of us when we are on the ride or maybe could video cam. But its impossible, 100% the camera will fly off we bring our cameras with us. In fact out valuables we leave it with Val who is waiting at the dock for us. Damn syiok man this ride. Lot at my Dragon Ball hair.
After that we walked further down the dock and this is the foot of the hill that leads us to Scrasborough Castle. Its 200 years old.
Doesnt this sight look familiar to you Penangites?Of Course Not! But actually this is the exact replica of how the large rocks at Gurney Drive look like. You see no rats. No rubbish. So clean. i could just sleep there man. When i walk along this path, i was thinking of Gurney Drive a lot. Talking to Roy why cant gurnye drive be like Scarsbourough. Can generate a lot of Tourism income man. And since Malaysia is Summer all year round. Talkin about Gurney at Scarsborough then i think its because of the fact that i will be going back to Malaysia a week from now.

There's a fun park by the dock too. Its kinda big and some of the rollercoasters we see from afar is scary man. But didnt get in there. 1. Is because we are short of cash 2. We have so much more to explore in Scarsborough.

Thsi four friends are the best friends i can ever have in my time in Leeds. I miss them a lot. Not fussy in anything. Gods love is really real from them. Im so bless to have a family away from home like them. Miss you guys Roy, Siawwan, May Woei , Val.
Today is 14th of May 2007. 2more months to make it a year.since that Scarsborough Trip. But its still fresh in my mind. I dream of the times we laughed, we travel. Thank You. I dont think u even know this blog exist. Maybe one day you will find this entry. Thank you so much for coloring my life in Leeds. And teaching me how to love just as Christ loves us.
